14 Malaysian Oil & Gas Service Companies Heading to Turkmenistan

Executives from 14 Malaysian companies specializing in oil and gas services and equipment (OGSE) are planning a dedicated business mission to Turkmenistan this October.
Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir, Malaysia’s Deputy Minister of Economy, officially announced the upcoming visit at a press conference in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday. The mission is being organized by the state-owned Malaysia Petroleum Resources Corporation (MPRC) as part of the National Internationalization and Market Access Programme (IMAP).
Malaysian businesses have traditionally viewed Turkmenistan as a key and highly reliable foothold in Central Asia. The long-standing success of the giant Petronas Carigali in the country has established a solid foundation of trust. Now, the focus is shifting to the arrival of an entire ecosystem cluster—comprising service, engineering, and high-tech enterprises—ready to offer Turkmenistan’s energy sector advanced solutions in drilling, infrastructure modernization, and the digitalization of production processes.
The Turkmen market holds strategic interest for Malaysia’s OGSE sector, which comprises nearly three thousand companies with an annual output approaching US$20 billion. Turkmenistan’s rapid economic diversification, large-scale investment projects, and commitment to adopting eco-friendly technologies create ideal conditions for joint B2B ventures and technology transfer.
The Malaysian delegation’s visit in October seamlessly complements Turkmenistan’s robust international agenda, reinforcing Ashgabat’s status as a key hub for investment and technological partnerships in the region.
