Implementation of the TAPI Project Brings Turkmen Energy Supplies Closer to South Asian Markets

The implementation of large-scale infrastructure projects connecting Central and South Asia is entering its practical phase. Plans for this year include completing the construction of the strategically important Serhetabat–Herat section of the TAPI gas pipeline, which will pave the way for the commencement of Turkmen natural gas supplies to Afghanistan as early as 2027.
This was announced by Atadjan Movlamov, Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, during a meeting with the diplomatic corps and the leadership of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) in Islamabad.
Speaking on behalf of the heads of diplomatic missions, the Turkmen diplomat highlighted the strategic role of the "Arkadagyn Ak Yoly" transit-energy corridor, as well as the TAPI and TAP (Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan power transmission line) projects. Access to South Asian markets for Turkmen energy resources will provide the region with clean energy and establish a robust raw material base for developing Pakistan's industrial potential—an effort in which the business community of Punjab province plays a pivotal role.
During the meeting, the leadership of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry and representatives of the Pakistani business community reaffirmed their strong interest in optimizing transit routes with Central Asian nations and fostering a long-term economic partnership.
