Serdar Berdimuhamedov Receives Japanese State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry


On September 11, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Kenji Yamada, Japan’s State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, who had arrived in Ashgabat for an official visit. During the meeting, the parties emphasized the steady development of bilateral relations, both through direct diplomacy and within the framework of the "Central Asia + Japan" regional dialogue.
Key areas of cooperation identified by the parties included the continuation of joint projects in gas chemistry, the agro-industrial complex, and transport infrastructure, as well as the leveraging of Japanese expertise in innovation and advanced engineering. Particular emphasis was placed on the development of sustainable technologies, digitalization, and circular economy principles.
On the same day, the Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, held talks with Kenji Yamada. The parties discussed in detail the practical mechanisms for implementing business initiatives, emphasizing the pivotal role of bilateral economic cooperation committees in fostering direct contacts between the business communities of the two countries.
