Rashid Meredov and Sergey Lebedev Review Agenda for CIS Economic Council and Summits in Avaza
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, held talks with Secretary-General of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Sergey Lebedev, who arrived in Ashgabat to attend the 111th meeting of the CIS Economic Council scheduled for September 11.
The discussion focused on key objectives for Turkmenistan’s chairmanship of the Commonwealth in 2026 and preparations for major diplomatic forums on the Caspian coast. In particular, the diplomats reviewed in detail the organizational aspects and the substantive agenda for the upcoming meetings of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers and the Council of Heads of State—scheduled for October 7 and 9, respectively—in the "Avaza" National Tourist Zone.
The participants also addressed enhancing the effectiveness of cooperation mechanisms within the CIS and reaffirmed their commitment to deepening multilateral partnerships in priority areas.
