Ashgabat Hosts C5+1 Secretariat Meeting to Prepare New Central Asia-US Partnership Initiatives
On September 9, Ashgabat hosted a meeting of the Secretariat of the "C5+1"—a diplomatic platform for multilateral cooperation uniting the Central Asian states and the United States of America. The meeting, involving working groups and coordinators from foreign affairs agencies, took place during Turkmenistan’s chairmanship of the format's Secretariat.
Participants focused primarily on the practical aspects of implementing previously reached agreements, coordinating the schedule for upcoming high-level meetings, and institutionally strengthening cooperation mechanisms.
Delegations examined ways to expand cooperation across key economic sectors, identifying critical minerals, transport and logistics infrastructure, and trade as priority areas. The meeting also addressed the development of direct contacts among relevant government bodies, expert communities, and the private sector, including through the lens of recommendations from the "B5+1" business forum.
Established in 2022, the C5+1 Secretariat continues to serve as a permanent executive mechanism, ensuring the continuity of diplomatic dialogue and the preparation of a substantive agenda for the interstate partnership.
