Turkmenistan and the CIS Executive Committee Agree on Arrangements for the October Summit in Avaza
Preparations for the key events of Turkmenistan’s chairmanship of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) have entered their final practical phase. Consultations took place at the "Avaza" National Tourist Zone between Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Serdar Muhammetdurdyyev and Denis Trefilov, Deputy Secretary General of the CIS. The talks focused on detailing the organizational and substantive aspects of the Commonwealth's upcoming major forums.
A tangible outcome of these discussions was the signing ceremony at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan of a protocol coordinating preparations for the meetings of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers and the Council of Heads of State, scheduled to be held on the Caspian coast on October 7 and 9, 2026.
The signed document establishes procedures for interagency cooperation and unified standards for hosting high-level and summit-level meetings, underscoring Ashgabat’s status as a responsible and effective CIS chair that shapes the substantive agenda of regional integration partnership.
