Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan Strengthen Cooperation in the Consular Sphere
On September 2, Turkmen-Azerbaijani consultations on consular matters were held in Ashgabat at the level of the heads of the relevant services of the foreign ministries of the two countries.
The main objective of the meeting was strengthening bilateral cooperation, protecting the rights of citizens, and addressing practical issues in the migration and legal spheres.
During the talks, the sides discussed in detail a range of issues related to protecting the legitimate interests of citizens of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan. The participants considered measures to improve the work of migration services, provide legal assistance, and enhance the effectiveness of contacts between the competent authorities of the two states.
Particular attention was paid to creating comfortable conditions for Turkmen students studying at higher education institutions in Azerbaijan, as well as to matters concerning the formalization of their stay. In addition, representatives of the relevant agencies discussed ways to prevent cases of dual citizenship and outlined steps for further exchange of experience in the fields of migration and law enforcement.
Following the meeting, the sides signed the Protocol on Consular Consultations, which records the main results of the talks and the agreements reached on further developing the partnership.
