TESOL 2026: Modern Pedagogical Strategies in English Language Teaching


From August 26 to 28, the International University for the Humanities and Development is hosting the international conference on Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, “TESOL 26: English for Tomorrow” (TESOL 2026: English for the Future). The major educational forum is organized under the auspices of TESOL International Association, with the assistance of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan and the support of the Embassy of the United States in Turkmenistan.

For the third consecutive year, the IUHD has served as a prestigious venue for this large-scale methodological event. Hundreds of English language teachers from secondary schools, higher education institutions and private language centers in the capital and all regions of the country are taking part in the three-day conference.

The conference program includes plenary sessions, interactive sessions, presentations and practical workshops. The speakers include leading American experts in linguistics and language education: David Chiesa, William Newman, Tamrika Khvtisiashvili, Lisa Brisbois and Heidi Faust.
The key topics of the plenary presentations and working sessions cover the most relevant trends in modern education, including the integration of technology and artificial intelligence, pedagogical strategies and practical training.

In addition to the American experts, local teachers also delivered presentations on topics such as improving the effectiveness of using materials in English lessons, practice-oriented teaching methods, developing critical thinking through working with literature, common challenges in English language teaching, and effective practices in English as a Foreign Language classrooms.
Particular attention during the concluding seminars was devoted to the key TESOL principles for organizing exemplary teaching and opportunities for teachers’ professional development within the international association.
