Ashgabat and Astana Reaffirmed Their Commitment to Deepening Their Strategic Partnership
On August 25, a telephone conversation took place between National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
During the conversation, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, on behalf of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and on his own behalf, congratulated the Kazakh leader on the successful holding of the Kurultai elections.The National Leader emphasized that the vote results reflect the will of the people and reinforce the reform agenda being implemented under the leadership of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. In turn, the President of Kazakhstan expressed gratitude to the Turkmen side for its support and the participation of observers in the election process, noting the important role of interparliamentary dialogue.
The interlocutors noted the high level of bilateral cooperation, encompassing political and diplomatic, trade and economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres. Regular and trusting dialogue at the highest government level serves as the foundation for expanding this partnership.
In the context of the international agenda, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized the importance of state and official visits, which have provided a powerful impetus to ties between the two countries. The head of Kazakhstan reiterated his invitation to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to participate in the Aqaba Process on Artificial Intelligence Security, which will be held in Astana in November.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed gratitude to the leader of Kazakhstan for his support of Turkmenistan's initiatives and confirmed his personal participation in three large-scale events planned for October 7–9 in the Avaza National Tourist Zone: the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and Azerbaijan, the CIS Heads of State Council Meeting, and the Caspian Environmental Summit.
President Tokayev also thanked the Turkmen side for joining the Treaty of Friendship, Good-Neighborliness, and Cooperation for the Development of Central Asia in the 21st Century and warmly noted the shared cultural values of the two peoples, specifically mentioning Turkmenistan's unique heritage—the Akhal-Teke horse.
Concluding the conversation, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov reaffirmed Turkmenistan's continued commitment to strengthening multifaceted cooperation, extending his best wishes to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and the fraternal people of Kazakhstan.
