Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Inspected the Construction of the Scientific and Clinical Oncology Center
On August 22, National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty (People's Council) Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov inspected the final stage of construction of the International Scientific and Clinical Oncology Center in northern Ashgabat. The opening of the high-tech complex is timed to the upcoming celebration of Healthcare and Medical Industry Workers' Day.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov reviewed the clinic's equipment plans, the improvement of the surrounding areas, and held a meeting with renowned German medical professors Fritz and Susanne Spelsberg. The German specialists praised the quality of the installed equipment, noting that many of the advanced devices are being introduced in the region for the first time, and that the decontamination and disposal system for radioactive waste meets strict international standards.
The National Leader emphasized the systemic nature of Turkmenistan's cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). This was confirmed by Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov's April meeting with IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi in Vienna. A new Country Framework Program for 2026–2030 is currently being developed, which will lay the foundation for the implementation of innovative nuclear medicine technologies and strengthening technological safety.
During the inspection of the diagnostic, surgical, and research units, special attention was paid to the implementation of artificial intelligence technologies, a unified digital data system, and the provision of high-speed internet connections in all departments. Also named among the priorities were the training of young specialists, the development of clinical residency programs, and interdisciplinary cooperation between the Oguz Khan University of Engineering and Technology and leading foreign universities.
Assessing the dynamics of infrastructure development, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov proposed creating a new medical city in the northern part of the capital, similar to the medical cluster established in the south of Ashgabat, and instructed the country's leadership to prepare corresponding proposals.
