Turkmenistan and Tajikistan Approved a Diplomatic Partnership Program for 2027–2028

On August 20, talks between Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, Sirojiddin Mukhriddin, who was on an official visit, and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov were held in Ashgabat. The meetings were held in narrow and expanded formats, culminating in the signing of a Cooperation Program between the foreign ministries of the two countries for 2027–2028.

During the political consultations, the parties praised the strategic partnership between Ashgabat and Dushanbe, discussing specific steps to improve political and diplomatic interaction. They particularly emphasized productive coordination within the UN, where Tajikistan has co-sponsored more than 30 resolutions adopted on Turkmenistan's initiative.

In the trade and economic bloc, diplomats noted the steady growth in trade turnover and intentions to expand cooperation in energy, transport, logistics, agriculture, and mutual investment. The 14th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission and the 2nd meeting of the Turkmen-Tajik Business Council, held in Dushanbe this year, served as the foundation for intensifying business dialogue.

The foreign ministers devoted significant attention to the cultural and humanitarian sphere, agreeing on a schedule of joint events for the near future to further bring the peoples of the two countries closer together.
