Turkmenistan's Chess Players Win Five Medals in Rapid Event at Asian Championship


The Central and North Asian Youth Chess Championship is being held on the shores of Issyk-Kul Lake in Kyrgyzstan from June 30 to July 9, bringing together young chess players from across the region, including a team from Turkmenistan.
The tournament features competitors from five countries: Kazakhstan (123 players), Kyrgyzstan (193), Tajikistan (11), Uzbekistan (87), and Turkmenistan (19).
The championship opened with the rapid competition, where Turkmen players delivered an impressive performance, winning two gold, two silver, and one bronze medal.
The rapid tournament was played under the Swiss system over seven rounds, with a time control of 10 minutes per game plus a 5-second increment per move.
Gold medalists:

• Meryem Rustemova (rating 1585), a third-grade student of Secondary School No. 27 in Lebap Region (born in 2018), scored 6 out of 7 points and gained 46.8 rating points.

• Bagul Jumayeva (rating 1597), a fourth-grade student of Secondary School No. 2 in Danew District, Lebap Region (born in 2017), scored 6.5 points and increased her rating by 97.2 points.
Silver medalists:

• Annamuhammet Hommadov (rating 2396), a third-year student at the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Education and Sports and a graduate of the Specialized Chess and Checkers School of Ashgabat, trains under coach Serdar Annaberdiyev. He scored 5 points and gained 22.8 rating points.
• Lala Shokhradova (rating 2153), a student at the International University of Oil and Gas named after Yagshygeldi Kakayev, also trains under Serdar Annaberdiyev. She scored 5 points to earn the silver medal.
Bronze medalist:

• Ayya Bayramova (rating 1920), a seventh-grade student of Secondary School No. 31 in Lebap Region (born in 2014), scored 5.5 points and improved her international rating by 39.6 points.
The successful performance of Turkmen chess players once again demonstrated the high standard of youth chess development in the country. The team is competing under the auspices of the Chess Federation of Turkmenistan. More events remain on the championship schedule, offering the players further opportunities to showcase their skills.
