The Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan, together with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), held a specialized workshop in Ashgabat on developing the institutional environment for national financial markets. Leading specialists from the Ministry of Finance and the Ashgabat Stock Exchange (ASHE) participated in the event. The main goal of the workshop was to study best international practices in the legal and methodological regulation of the stock market, as well as adapt global approaches to brokerage activities in the context of the modernization of the domestic financial system.

During the expert discussions, special attention was paid to improving market infrastructure and mechanisms for increasing the transparency of securities trading. Participants examined in detail international experience with modern depository systems, principles of investor protection, and standards for brokerage services. The workshop resulted in the development of unified approaches to further reforming the sector's regulatory framework.

This initiative is being implemented as part of a long-term joint project between UNDP and the relevant ministry aimed at creating a sustainable and efficient financial sector in Turkmenistan. The current phase of collaboration focuses on developing a comprehensive strategy for the securities market, enhancing the professional competencies of national specialists, and implementing digital standards for the recording and circulation of financial instruments, which directly addresses the country's long-term socioeconomic development goals.
