Iran Increases Gas Production at Onshore Fields
Iran has launched the emergency implementation of a state program aimed at increasing natural gas production. This was announced by Iran’s Minister of Petroleum, Mohsen Paknejad, during an official briefing. Under the new initiative, the primary focus will be on accelerating the development and intensifying the exploitation of onshore gas resources.
The main operator of this large-scale energy project is the Central Oil Fields Company of Iran. At present, the company’s production infrastructure and active development portfolio include 13 major gas fields and 13 oil fields. Experts estimate the current maximum production capacity of this entity at approximately 250 million cubic meters of natural gas and 250,000 barrels of crude oil per day. The full implementation of the new strategy is expected to significantly increase these figures in the near future.
The decision carries strategic importance for both global markets and regional consumers. The rapid expansion of gas production will enable Iran not only to reliably meet domestic demand ahead of peak consumption periods but also to strengthen its position as one of the region’s key hydrocarbon exporters. Increased energy supplies in the Caspian region and the Middle East could have a direct impact on the stability of international energy deliveries and the balance of global energy prices.
