Retail trade turnover in Turkmenistan in January increased by 18%

The first month after the big holidays is traditionally considered "stagnant" in terms of trade. In December, people spend a lot on gifts and celebrate the New Year in a big way, and in January they save "until the next salary".
It would seem that this should be relevant for Turkmenistan, as the New Year holidays are one of the most beloved in the country. However, according to the State Statistics Committee, the volume of retail trade in the country for the first month of 2018 increased by 18.1% compared to the same period last year.

On average for other countries in the Central Asian region, the same indicator is about 6-7%.
The growth of retail trade turnover in Turkmenistan in 2017 was 19% compared to 2016.
