Turkmen Culinary Traditions Were a Highlight at the "Diplomacy of Taste" Festival in Minsk

Culinary traditions and the cultural codes of the world's peoples were the main themes of the "Diplomacy of Taste" gastronomic festival, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus in Minsk on June 13. This unusual festival vividly demonstrated that national cuisine and hospitality can sometimes serve as a far more effective and understandable tool for international dialogue than strict official protocol.
Belarusian Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov participated in the culinary marathon, which attracted numerous guests, while diplomatic missions from more than 25 countries from all continents presented their unique culinary calling cards. The festival program was incredibly rich, from colorful themed embassy stands and interactive master classes by chefs to tastings of rare national dishes and a vibrant fashion show inspired by traditional ethnic costumes.

The rich exhibition displayed by the Embassy of Turkmenistan rightfully became one of the festival's most visited and colorful attractions. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Belarus Nazarguly Shagulyev personally presented a generous Turkmen dastarkhan to guests and fellow diplomatic corps members, transforming a simple tasting into a truly memorable cultural event.

The presentation of legendary national dishes, accompanied by stories about their history and cooking secrets, took place in an atmosphere of genuine Eastern hospitality. Turkmen diplomats and representatives of the diaspora greeted guests in hand-woven national attire, which not only highlighted the country's rich historical and cultural heritage but also vividly demonstrated Turkmenistan's profound openness and friendliness to the world.

The Turkmen diplomatic mission's active participation in the Minsk festival is particularly meaningful, as 2026 marks a milestone anniversary for our country. Turkmenistan is preparing to celebrate the 35th anniversary of its independence, and the year itself is being held under the profound and poetic motto "Independent, Neutral Turkmenistan – the Homeland of Purposeful Winged Horses." Against this solemn historical backdrop, the embassy's vibrant and delicious performance in Minsk struck a beautiful chord in Ashgabat's humanitarian diplomacy. Festival guests were able to not only taste famous Turkmen delicacies but also, through their flavors and aromas, touch the soul of the Turkmen people and learn more about their values and present-day reality.

From a cultural perspective, participation in the "Diplomacy of Taste" project once again confirmed the high level of mutual understanding between Turkmenistan and Belarus, demonstrating a mutual interest in preserving, developing, and promoting national customs.

The Embassy of Turkmenistan in Minsk is consistently and constructively working to expand bilateral ties, harmoniously integrating such warm humanitarian initiatives into the overall context of interstate political and economic dialogue. The recent festival demonstrated that culinary diplomacy is confidently becoming a fully-fledged, gentle, and exceptionally effective approach to modern international relations, capable of uniting cities and countries through sincere smiles and the joy of communication.
