ORIENT | Politics, June 8. Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held talks with Dr. Robert Floyd, Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO), who was visiting Ashgabat. The diplomats discussed key aspects of global security, non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, and expanding practical cooperation.

The meeting focused on the landmark date—the 30th anniversary of the Treaty's opening for signature. The interlocutors emphasized the historic role of this document as one of the fundamental pillars of the international arms control architecture and progress toward complete nuclear disarmament.

It was noted that Turkmenistan, as a state with permanent neutrality delegated by the UN, strictly complies with all its international obligations. Our country consistently supports the efforts of the international community aimed at strengthening mutual trust, preventive diplomacy, and ensuring global peace.

In addition to the global geopolitical agenda, Meredov and Floyd outlined specific steps to deepen their practical partnership. Specifically, the parties agreed to intensify cooperation in training Turkmenistan's national specialists, expand their participation in specialized CTBTO educational programs, and establish regular exchanges of experience at the expert level, according to a Foreign Ministry press release.

At the end of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to regular and constructive dialogue, which serves the interests of stability and sustainable development both in the Central Asian region and globally.
