Xiaomi has begun developing a new foldable smartphone with an enlarged display that is designed to fully replace both a phone and a tablet. The device is being created as a direct competitor to the upcoming iPhone Ultra flagship, as well as similar products from Samsung and Apple.

Interest in foldable devices with ultra-wide screens has grown rapidly worldwide, prompting technology giants to explore new design solutions. Xiaomi plans to attract consumers not only with a flexible display but also with unique artificial intelligence capabilities.

The smartphone’s key feature will be an upgraded side panel equipped with built-in AI tools. It will allow users to instantly launch necessary functions and perform everyday tasks in a multitasking environment without switching between applications.

Although Xiaomi has not yet made an official announcement, industry experts believe the company will seek to build on the success of its previous foldable flagship, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4. The release of a new large-format model with advanced AI could significantly reshape the balance of power in the premium smartphone market.
