ORIENT | Economy / Business. Nodira Mansurova has been appointed the new Regional Head of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan. She will assume her new duties on 1 September 2026.

Ms. Mansurova will replace Ayten Rustamova, who has headed the EBRD's Regional Office since 2021. The new head will be based in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, where the Bank's projects in these three Central Asian countries are coordinated.

Nodira Mansurova has 25 years of extensive experience with the EBRD. A native of Uzbekistan and a British citizen, she joined the bank in 2001. During this time, she worked both at the EBRD's London headquarters and in several key regions where the EBRD operates, including Egypt, Jordan, and Uzbekistan. Mansurova specialized in opening new markets, reforming economic sectors, decentralization, and launching large-scale projects in municipal and environmental infrastructure.

She is well acquainted with the Central Asian region, having previously served as the EBRD Regional Head of Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Finance and Development in Central Asia, based in Almaty.

From 2021 until her current appointment, Nodira Mansurova headed the EBRD Resident Office in Tunisia. In this role, she actively promoted energy transition programs, stimulating the development of renewable energy in the private sector, managed state-owned enterprise reforms, and oversaw investment climate improvements, digitalization, and small business support.

The new EBRD Regional Head holds honors degrees from the University of World Economy and Diplomacy and the Fergana Polytechnic University in Uzbekistan.

Ms. Mansurova's extensive experience in supporting SMEs, digitalization, and environmental initiatives is expected to add new impetus to the EBRD's projects in Turkmenistan, where the bank continues to actively collaborate with the private sector and promote sustainable economic growth.
