Festive Events in Honor of International Children's Day Were Held in Ashgabat
Turkmenistan welcomed the first day of summer with large-scale and touching celebrations. Festive events marking International Children's Day were held across the country. This bright holiday traditionally began with an address from President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who emphasized that creating conditions for a happy life and harmonious development of the younger generation remains an absolute priority for the state.
Ashgabat Park of Culture and Recreation became one of the main centers of the festivities in the capital. A large, inclusive celebration unfolded there, uniting the efforts of various ministries and agencies of the country (foreign affairs, education, healthcare, sports), the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Care, and United Nations agencies.
The official part of the event opened with welcoming speeches by Administrator of the Apparatus of the Khalk Maslakhaty (People's Council) of Turkmenistan, Executive Director and Vice President of the Charitable Foundation, Rejep Bazarov, UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan, Dmitry Shlapachenko, and Head of the UNICEF Representative Office, Jalpa Ratna. The speakers noted the fruitfulness of the long-standing partnership between Turkmenistan and the UN Children's Fund, main goal of which is the well-being, quality education, and comprehensive support of every child, especially those in need of special care.
The highlight of the day, of course, was the creative part. Guests were captivated by the vibrant and heartfelt performances by the students of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Children's Health and Rehabilitation Center and young artists from the Jahan Creative Center. Colorful theatrical performances, vibrant dances, and musical numbers transformed the park alley into a grand festival stage.
For the youngest participants, the organizers prepared a rich interactive program: educational quizzes, creative competitions, fun games, and sports relay races. This day gave the children what matters most: the genuine joy of communication, space for self-expression, and a huge boost of inspiration for the summer holidays ahead.
