A four-segment identifier, global uniqueness, traceability of 28,000 robots, more than 100 enterprises and 200 product models

As reported by CCTV+, China has unveiled its first platform for managing the full life cycle of humanoid robots. The system ensures the traceability of all humanoid robots in the country from assembly to disposal.

From now on, every humanoid robot produced in China will be assigned a unique four-segment identification code. It guarantees traceability from research and development to production, sales permits, sales, use, disposal and recycling.

The system was developed by the Technical Committee for Standardization of Humanoid Robots and Embodied Intelligence under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. It will ensure control over robots, prevent risks and increase accountability.

Dong Jian, Director of the Information Technology Research Center of the China Electronics Standardization Institute, explained: “The code includes a country code, an enterprise code, a product code and a serial number. This guarantees global uniqueness, traceability, type differentiation and individual tracking of robots. At the same time, the system provides technical flexibility for enterprises, allowing them to customize codes while taking into account existing coding systems.”

To date, the platform has covered more than 100 humanoid robot enterprises across China. It has completed the full cycle of assigning identification codes to more than 200 product models and more than 28,000 robots.

Every robot will now have its own digital passport. From assembly to disposal. Country code, enterprise code, product code and serial number. 28,000 robots have already received their identifiers. More than 100 enterprises are in the system.

China is not just producing robots — it is registering them. Legalizing, controlling, tracking. The question is not how many more robots will come off the assembly line. The question is when other countries will introduce similar rules.

While they debate ethics, China is already coding the hardware. And knows where each robot is. From birth to death. Because in a world where machines are becoming intelligent, control is not paranoia. It is a necessity. And China is ready for it.
