Armenia ready to expand air transit from Turkmenistan

Ashgabat and Yerevan scrutinize the opportunities for expanding cooperation in the air transport. The issue has been touched upon at the meeting of the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Armenia Muhametniyaz Mashalov with the country’s Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan.
The new transit air route Ashgabat-Yerevan-Frankfurt was launched at the end of last year. The flights are performed once a week. However, according to the head of the Turkmen diplomatic mission, the possibility of increasing the frequency of flights is negotiated now.
In turn, the head of the Armenian government proposed to the Turkmen side to consider the prospects of widening the geography of the aviation communications through the Zvartnots International Airport.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the ways to intensify bilateral economic cooperation in the light of implementing existing intergovernmental agreements to promote the trade.
