On May 4, on the initiative of the Iranian side, a telephone conversation took place between the heads of the foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and Iran, Rashid Meredov and Seyed Abbas Araghchi. The dialogue focused on the development of bilateral relations, as well as international issues of mutual interest, according to a statement from the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.
Regional security was a central topic of discussion. The diplomats emphasized that preventive diplomacy should become a key tool in today's environment.
The parties agreed on the need to use exclusively political and diplomatic means to prevent complex situations and conflicts. This approach reflects Turkmenistan's neutral status and its role as a peacekeeping center in Central Asia.
The Caspian Sea occupied a significant portion of the conversation. The ministers reaffirmed their shared position: the Caspian Sea must remain a space of peace, harmony, and good-neighborliness.
The need to intensify multilateral cooperation to address pressing environmental issues in the Caspian Sea, which are important for all littoral states, was noted.
Rashid Meredov and Seyed Abbas Araghchi agreed to maintain regular contacts through the Foreign Ministry, demonstrating Ashgabat and Tehran's commitment to systematically developing bilateral relations and promptly responding to international developments.
