On April 14, a delegation from the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan began its participation on the first day of the Youth Forum of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) in New York. The forum is held under the theme “Innovation, Integration and Transformation: Youth Driving the Path to 2030,” according to the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan.
Turkmenistan is represented at the international forum by Gulnabat Gurdova, Head of the International Cooperation Department, and Vepa Gutlyyev, Head of the Youth Policy Department.
At the Trusteeship Council Chamber, delegates from various countries discussed how the younger generation can accelerate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). During the opening session, high-level UN officials delivered remarks, including Annalena Baerbock, President of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly. The main focus of discussions was the role of youth innovation in addressing today’s global challenges — from digital transformation to climate justice.
The first day’s program focused on three key areas:
• Clean Water and Sanitation (SDG 6); • Affordable and Clean Energy (SDG 7); • Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure (SDG 9).
Within these sessions, representatives of Turkmenistan are exploring international experience in expanding youth participation in energy solutions and entrepreneurship.
Participation in the ECOSOC forum highlights Turkmenistan’s active stance in international youth cooperation. The platform in New York provides an opportunity not only to exchange experience but also to promote national initiatives at the highest global level, contributing to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda.
