Lee Jae-myung sent a personal message to Serdar Berdimuhamedov, praising the efficiency of Turkmen services in organizing the safe transit of a group of Korean citizens.
On Monday, March 9, the Office of the President of the Republic of Korea announced a letter of thanks to the leadership of Turkmenistan. Seoul expressed gratitude for its assistance in evacuating South Korean citizens and their family members from Iran. According to the official statement, thanks to close cooperation between the two countries, 25 South Korean citizens, as well as four of their family members (Iranian citizens), were successfully evacuated from Iran to Turkmenistan.
President Lee Jae-myung particularly emphasized the constructive role of the Turkmen side in providing logistics: The Government of Turkmenistan provided a checkpoint for the evacuation group; border and customs services acted promptly, minimizing the time people spent in the risk zone and ensuring their safe transit.
The President of the Republic of Korea emphasized that the successful completion of this humanitarian operation was further confirmation of the "depth of friendship and high level of trust" that exists between Ashgabat and Seoul.
This once again underlines the status of Turkmenistan as a stable regional hub capable of quickly addressing complex international challenges in crisis situations.
