Every year, all students of the A.S. Pushkin Turkmen-Russian Secondary School eagerly await the arrival of Maslenitsa. This kind tradition is supported by all the teachers and parents of the school. Class 10 “B” also did not stay aside and on Thursday, February 19, early in the morning warmly welcomed students, teachers, and technical staff with pancakes, pies, and an abundance of other sweets.
According to old Russian tradition, on the fourth day of Maslenitsa large festivities take place and all household work stops. The festive atmosphere was supported by the mothers. They wore traditional Russian costumes and decorated the school hall. During breaks lively Russian melodies performed by an accordion player filled the air. Children and adults could not stand still and joined in energetic Russian dancing.
During the long break another surprise awaited the students — singer Elena Oreshkina performed Russian folk and popular songs. The celebration was a success! The school day felt special and time flew by. The children left school happy and delighted. Once again, the school proved to be a unique educational institution where dialogue between Turkmen and Russian cultures, friendship, and respect form the foundation of educating the younger generation.
