Apple is planning a major refresh of its professional laptop lineup this spring. The new MacBook Pro models powered by M5 Pro and M5 Max processors are expected to be officially unveiled as early as March 2026.
The key technical innovation will be the transition to the advanced TSMC SoIC chip packaging technology. This approach allows processors to be assembled from separate functional blocks, improving overall system efficiency while helping to control production costs amid rising component prices.
According to preliminary estimates, the performance gains will be substantial. The CPU performance of the M5 Pro chip could surpass that of the current flagship M4 Max. Graphics performance on the new platforms is expected to increase by 30–40%, which is critical for professional work involving video editing, 3D graphics, and neural networks.
