From January 24 to 29, a prestigious international Olympiad in mathematics and chemistry among university students was held in the city of Bukhara, Republic of Uzbekistan. Turkmenistan’s higher education system was represented at the competition by students of the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International University of Oil and Gas.
Following the results of the intellectual contests, the university team won one gold, two silver, and two bronze medals.
Winners and prize recipients of the Olympiad:
• Mathematics: First-year student Kerimguly Bendov was awarded a gold medal and a first-degree diploma. Fourth-year student Islam Hayytmuhammedov received a silver medal and a second-degree diploma. Both students represent the Faculty of Digital Technologies and Cybersecurity.
• Chemistry: The silver medal was won by Azim Bakhtiyarov (Faculty of Chemical Technology and Ecology). Bronze medals were awarded to Abdyrahim Batyrov (Faculty of Chemical Technology and Ecology) and Jemshit Talibzhonov (Faculty of Energy and Engineering Facilities).
These achievements became among the first notable successes of the Turkmen youth in 2026. Victories at the international level confirm the effectiveness of the state policy in the field of science and education, aimed at unlocking the talents of the younger generation and enhancing the international reputation of Turkmen universities. The conditions created in the country enable students not only to receive high-quality education but also to successfully compete with representatives of leading foreign universities.
The high results achieved in Bukhara testify to the advancement of the national education system to new heights and to the readiness of future specialists to contribute to the innovative development of Turkmenistan.
