On January 26, the Minister of Education of Turkmenistan, Jumamyrat Gurbangeldiyev, held a meeting with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Italian Republic, Luigi Ferrari. This was reported on the official website of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan.
During the meeting, the Turkmen side emphasized that education is one of the priority areas for strengthening bilateral relations. It was also noted that under the leadership of the President of Turkmenistan, the national education system is being consistently improved, and in accordance with the Socio-Economic Development Program until 2052, the country’s higher education institutions are actively integrating into the global educational space.
The parties expressed satisfaction with the steady development of the Turkmen-Italian dialogue. In this regard, particular importance was attached to the recent meeting with the Italian Institute for Asia, held within the framework of the international forum dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust, the International Neutrality Day, and the 30th anniversary of the permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan.
It was noted that the Turkmen side is expanding its participation in international educational programs and professional development courses within the framework of Italian educational projects. As part of the cooperation, short-term language and cultural courses, internships for teachers and students, as well as European Union projects such as Erasmus+ and regional initiatives, are being implemented on a regular basis.
During the exchange of views, future areas of cooperation were discussed. In particular, Italian school students and university students were invited to take part in international mathematics olympiads that will be held in Turkmenistan in March–April.
Special attention was also paid to the high level of educational cooperation based on existing bilateral agreements, the teaching of the Italian language at higher education institutions of Turkmenistan, the implementation of joint educational programs, and the organization of cultural and humanitarian events.
