On January 24, Oguljahan Atabayeva, Vice President for Medical Affairs at the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Care, met with Jalpa Ratna, UNICEF Representative in Turkmenistan, in Arkadag. The parties outlined new steps for implementing joint projects in children's healthcare and social protection.
The central topic of the discussion was the practical implementation of the previously signed Memorandum of Understanding. This document is not just a formality, but a legal foundation that allows for the pooling of resources from the international foundation and national initiatives to provide high-tech medical care, develop inclusive education, and promote the social integration of children in need of special care.
Jalpa Ratna emphasized that the activities of the Turkmen Charitable Foundation are a clear example of the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). According to the UNICEF representative, Turkmenistan's accumulated experience in protecting children's rights and maternal health deserves broad international recognition and can serve as a model for other countries.
Meeting participants noted that cooperation has now reached a systemic level. The Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Foundation has become a key instrument through which the state guarantees every child access to advanced healthcare and high-quality social support.
At the end of the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness to launch new joint programs aimed at creating the most favorable conditions for the comprehensive development of young citizens of Turkmenistan.
