Ashgabat, January 19 | ORIENT. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a digital working meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister for Agriculture and regional governors. The meeting focused on preparations for cotton sowing, winter crop care, and oversight of social projects for the year.
At the current stage of the agricultural cycle, work is divided into the following areas:
Wheat. Vegetative care is nearing completion in all regions. The main focus is on mineral fertilizer application and irrigation according to scientifically proven standards.
Cotton. The active phase of soil preparation has begun—plowing, leveling, and ridge formation.
In parallel, plants are selecting seeds adapted to the soils of each region.
Food basket: In the velayats, land is being prepared for spring planting of potatoes, vegetables, and melons. In the Mary region, sugar beet processing is nearing completion.
The President of Turkmenistan placed special emphasis on payments to farmers, issuing strict instructions to relevant agencies to ensure timely payments to cotton, wheat, rice, and sugar beet producers.
All agricultural machinery must be ready for the start of the mass sowing campaign. The head of state emphasized the need for rational use of water resources and improving soil fertility through the implementation of innovative approaches.
In addition to the agricultural sector, the meeting reviewed the progress of construction projects scheduled for completion in 2026. These include schools, hospitals, and infrastructure facilities under the National Rural Program. The President ordered strict oversight of the quality of work and the completion dates of these projects.
