Ashgabat, January 6 | ORIENT. Winter holidays in Turkmenistan are not only a time of relaxation but also a moment of triumph for the country's brightest talents. The annual Gulbaba Award ceremony took place today at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. This competition is a "ticket to the future" for those under 18 who have already distinguished themselves in science, sports, and the arts.
The laureates were selected after a rigorous selection process in villages and towns across all regions. These include young scientists, winners of school competitions who offer innovative solutions; athletes who have already earned medals for Turkmen sports; and musicians and artists – heirs to the distinctive traditions of national culture.
The ceremony began with a touching video about Gulbaba, a legendary boy with a unique voice, after whom the award is named. Despite his short life, he has become a symbol of childhood talent in Turkmenistan. His songs, performed in the hall, reminded guests that true art knows no age.
The celebration was not without its New Year's magic. The New Year's stage was transformed into a living illustration of Turkmen fairy tales. However, behind the festive tinsel lies a serious result: the Gulbaba Award is part of a larger state strategy to support youth.
Today, these young people receive their diplomas in Ashgabat, and tomorrow, they will become the "purposeful winged steeds" who will advance the science and culture of independent Turkmenistan.
