On December 13, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted a series of meetings with high-ranking representatives of foreign states and international organizations who arrived in Ashgabat to participate in celebrations marking the International Year of Peace and Trust, as well as the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality.
All participants of the High-Level Forum noted its importance as a crucial platform for developing a culture of trust, stability, and addressing pressing contemporary issues.
UNESCO: Inscription of the Turkmen Alabai Dog on the Intangible Heritage List
One of the events was a meeting between Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and UNESCO Assistant Director-General Xing Cui.
The Assistant Director-General congratulated the Turkmen side on this significant date and noted the high level of bilateral cooperation. Particular attention was paid to a significant cultural achievement: the inclusion of the national nomination "The Art of Breeding the Turkmen Alabai Dog" on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. This decision was made on December 11 at a meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee in New Delhi.
The parties reaffirmed their mutual commitment to further expanding cooperation in education, science, and the preservation of tangible and intangible heritage.
Dialogue with the Kingdom of Eswatini
At a meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Eswatini, Russell Dlamini, it was emphasized that high-level contacts (including meetings between the President of Turkmenistan and the King of Eswatini on the sidelines of the UN) significantly contribute to strengthening mutual understanding. The parties discussed the development of relations in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres, noting the need to establish dialogue between the business communities.
Prospects for Cooperation with Somalia
The Foreign Ministers of Turkmenistan and the Federal Republic of Somalia, Rashid Meredov and Abdisalam Abdi Ali, noted the significant potential for cooperation. They noted the similarity of the two countries' approaches to global peace and sustainable development, as well as the advisability of expanding the legal framework and strengthening intergovernmental contacts.
Dynamics of Contacts with the DPRK
Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Myahri Byashimova met with DPRK Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Russia, Sin Hong-chol. The two sides noted the increased dynamism of contacts between their foreign ministries. It was noted that the regular exchange of messages between the leaders of the two countries reflects mutual respect, which contributes to the consistent expansion of cooperation in areas of mutual interest, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The celebration of the 30th anniversary of neutrality provided a powerful impetus for strengthening Turkmenistan's political, economic, cultural, and humanitarian ties with countries around the world and major international organizations, reaffirming the strategic importance of the principles of peace and trust.
