On November 18, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov accepted the credentials of the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Qatar, Nasser bin Ahmed Al Taher.
The head of state congratulated the diplomat on his appointment and emphasized that Ashgabat attaches strategic importance to strengthening and expanding multifaceted cooperation with Qatar. It was noted that the traditionally friendly and fraternal relations between the countries are characterized by a high level of mutual understanding, and that a productive partnership is consistently advancing thanks to reciprocal high-level visits.
President Berdimuhamedov noted with satisfaction the success of interstate cooperation, including within the United Nations. Qatar's support for Turkmenistan's initiatives at the UN was particularly emphasized and highly appreciated.
During the meeting, both sides confirmed the extensive opportunities for the progressive development of trade and economic relations.
The most promising areas of cooperation included the fuel and energy sector and investment, transport and communications, the chemical and textile industries, agriculture, healthcare, and high technology.
The head of state also noted the extensive opportunities for interaction in the cultural and humanitarian sphere, including the joint study of the rich historical and cultural heritage of the two peoples.
To effectively realize this potential and take intergovernmental cooperation to a new level, emphasis was placed on the need to intensify the work of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Qatari Commission.
Ambassador Nasser bin Ahmed Al Taher assured the President of Turkmenistan that he would make every effort to further strengthen the traditionally friendly and fraternal relations between the two countries.
