Specialists from the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory of RUPF University have developed and launched a new AI model that helps foreign students practice the pronunciation of specific Russian sounds and words. The system, which essentially acts as a virtual teacher, offers a personalized learning approach and significantly accelerates the process of mastering complex Russian phonetics.
The program developer, head of the RUPF AI Laboratory, Rezaian Naim, explained that the trainer analyzes the speech of each student and creates a personal learning track for them.
Analysis and personalization: The AI identifies sounds, syllables, and words that are most difficult for each specific student.
Round-the-clock practice: Students can practice correct pronunciation at any time without a teacher’s involvement. The system automatically evaluates pronunciation accuracy and provides feedback.
Learning formats: The program includes special exercises and simulated dialogues for full speech practice.
The high effectiveness of the system was confirmed during large-scale testing conducted in 2024 at the Digital Preparatory Faculty of RUPF University.
During one year, more than 7,000 foreign students used the test version. Thanks to the AI trainer, they mastered Russian phonetics much faster. Based on these results, it was decided to fully implement the model in the current academic year.
The developers emphasize that in the future, this AI trainer can be used in other Russian and foreign institutions where Russian is taught as a foreign language.
