Turkmen Specialists Study Italy’s Advanced Experience in Water Resource Management
07.10.2025 | 17:25 |From September 29 to October 3, 2025, a training course on sustainable water resource management was held in Viterbo, Italy, within the framework of the “Central Asia – Italy” cooperation format. Representatives of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan and the Turkmen Agricultural Institute participated in this key event for the agricultural sector.
The main objective of the training was to learn new international practices for the rational use of water in agriculture, the introduction of innovative irrigation systems, and the effective application of digital technologies.
During the course, participants not only attended presentations on the impacts of climate change but also visited key facilities for hands-on experience:
• Tuscia University – Familiarization with operating irrigation systems.
• TORO Company – Study of advanced water-saving equipment, sensor technologies, and H2OCAD software for irrigation design.
• ARSIAL and Maccarese Centers – Exchange of experience in soil monitoring, use of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, and introduction to high-yield horticultural systems.
The participation of the Turkmen delegation marked an important step toward integrating international expertise in water resource management and improving agricultural productivity.
Thanks to this initiative, Turkmen specialists gain the opportunity to master advanced digital irrigation management technologies and implement scientific, water-saving solutions. These measures contribute to the successful implementation of state programs for the rational use of water resources and the innovative development of the country’s agricultural sector.
