Turkmen historians were invited to dialogue "Mountain Altai - the ancestral home of the Turks"

Russian historians and scientists have called on their colleagues from Turkmenistan and other Central Asian countries to take part in the II International scientific and practical conference "Mountain Altai - the ancestral home of the Turks. On the history of the origin of the Turkic civilization." This large-scale forum, which will be held on September 17 in Gorno-Altaisk, is designed to unite efforts to study and preserve the common cultural and historical heritage.

The initiators of the conference emphasize that Altai became the "starting geographical point" from which the Turkic peoples settled throughout Eurasia. That is why the history of the Turkic civilization, to which the Turkmen people belong, is part of the common civilizational code.

The conference will become a platform for discussing not only historical facts, but also modern issues of integration. Participants will examine how the centuries-long experience of coexistence of Turkic and Slavic peoples within the Eurasian states laid the foundation for modern cooperation.

Particular attention will be paid to the contribution of the peoples of Central Asia to common historical events, including the Great Patriotic War. As noted by the scientific director of the Russian Military Historical Society Mikhail Myagkov, about 300 thousand residents of the Turkmen SSR were called up to the front, and more than 25 of them became Heroes of the Soviet Union. The scientist also emphasized that a powerful hospital base was created in Ashgabat and other cities of Central Asia, which received wounded soldiers.

The invitation to participate in the conference is a recognition of the role of Turkmenistan in preserving Turkic history. This is also an opportunity for Turkmen scientists to contribute to its study and note the significance of such unique artifacts as the Pazyryk carpet, which was found in Altai and is considered one of the oldest examples of carpet weaving associated with Turkmen culture.

The conference will open up new prospects for joint archaeological and ethnographic expeditions, the creation of museums and the revival of traditional crafts. More than 160 participants from Russia, Belarus, Hungary, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Mongolia are expected.
