Ashgabat accepts flights which routes were changed due to the situation in the Middle East

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reported on immediate measures to provide humanitarian support in light of the recent escalation of tensions in the Middle East. Demonstrating its commitment to the principles of international humanism and the status of permanent positive neutrality, Turkmenistan promptly provided conditions for the unimpeded use of its airspace by all aircraft of foreign airlines forced to change routes.

Dozens of flights, including FlyDubai (UAE), Jazeera Airways (Kuwait), S7 Airlines (Russia) and other air carriers, were promptly able to safely land at Ashgabat International Airport. On board these aircraft were hundreds of citizens from Central Asia, the Middle East, India, Russia and other countries.

All passengers were provided with three hot meals a day and access to the necessary medical care. All conditions for proper rest have been created for aircraft crew members in strict accordance with international civil aviation standards.

This prompt response and the assistance provided clearly confirm Turkmenistan’s firm position on humanitarian issues, emphasizing the practical implementation of the ideals of solidarity and humanity in difficult international circumstances.

On June 14, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Turkmenistan Ahmed Al-Hayy Hamad Khamis Al-Hameli sent written messages to the President of Turkmenistan, as well as the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reported.

The letters express deep gratitude on behalf of the UAE Government "for the noble cooperation and humane support provided by the authorities of Turkmenistan in connection with the forced stop of a number of UAE airline flights at Ashgabat International Airport on June 13, 2025. The hospitable reception of passengers of these flights and providing them with everything they needed - food and water - during several hours of waiting made a deep impression on us. This became a clear evidence of the noble humanitarian values inherent in the Government and people of Turkmenistan... ".

It was also noted that this noble act reflects the depth of fraternal relations between the two states, the true spirit of solidarity and mutual assistance.
