AMD is preparing its flagship Radeon RX 9080 XT (Ultra AI NPU) for release in 2025, challenging the RTX 5080

According to well-known insider Moore's Law is Dead (MLID), AMD is preparing to release a truly flagship graphics card — the Radeon RX 9080 XTX Ultra AI NPU (which MLID refers to in short as the Radeon RX 9080 XT). This new product is expected to be released as early as this year and could pose serious competition to the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080.

Key specifications and features:

• Memory: The video card will feature a significant amount of memory — 32 GB of GDDR7.

• GPU Clock Speed: An impressive GPU clock speed ranging from 3.7 to 4.0 GHz is anticipated.

• Power Consumption: The stated power consumption is at the level of 450 W. It remains unclear whether AMD will transition to new power connectors or retain the current 8-pin connectors.

Expected performance:

It is anticipated that the Radeon RX 9080 XT will provide a performance increase of 15-40% compared to the Radeon RX 9070 XT. In games with 4K resolution, a performance increase of approximately 30% is expected. It is likely that the new AMD card will outperform the GeForce RTX 5080, and following the company's current pricing strategy, it may be cheaper than its competitor.
