China and Russia are intensifying trade in high-technology goods

According to the results of 2024, China leads among Russia's foreign partners in the level of high-technology goods trade. Beijing and Moscow have agreed to cooperate in the fields of science and innovation, as stated in a recent bilateral memorandum.

Cooperation between the Russian capital and China in high technologies is growing and developing at an accelerated pace. According to the Moscow city government, innovative products already account for 48 percent of the city's total trade turnover with the PRC, representing an increase of more than 11 percent.

Industrial manufacturers in the Russian capital supply the Chinese market with high-technology products, including engines for the aviation industry, instruments, equipment, as well as goods from various high-tech sectors, such as optics.

Russian specialists note the high level of development of Chinese robotics. They openly acknowledge that some innovative ideas currently being implemented in Moscow were shared by their Chinese counterparts, and this interaction will continue, as confirmed by another signed memorandum between the Moscow Innovation Cluster Foundation and the Beijing Center for Science and Technology Cooperation.

Alexander Ulanov, Deputy General Director of the Moscow Innovation Cluster Foundation, stated:

"Regarding the implementation of the memorandum, we have established a bridge between the two ecosystems, Chinese and Moscow, for the exchange of experience and the possibility of introducing our technologies in China and Chinese technologies in Russia. This will lead to significant growth and will be a catalyst for the development of both our relations and the field of robotics in both countries".

High technologies are occupying an increasingly significant place in the structure of mutual trade between the two countries.

According to the Russian government, in 2024, China became Russia's leading foreign partner in terms of high-technology goods trade, with its share in the total volume reaching almost half. Over the year, mutual trade in the innovation sector increased by approximately 6 percent, and analysts predict that these figures will continue to grow.
