 President Serdar Berdimuhamedov: a course for sustainable development

On May 8, a regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan was held in Ashgabat in a digital format under the chairmanship of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. The agenda included the results of the country's socio-economic development for the first four months of 2025, key foreign policy events and strategic guidelines for the near future.

Confident pace of internal growth

Reports by government members on economic sectors confirmed that Turkmenistan maintains stable growth dynamics. According to the results of four months, the country's GDP grew by 6.3%. New social facilities are being built; large infrastructure projects are active. Progress is especially noticeable in the transport and communications complex, with leading indicators in civil aviation and communications.

The President emphasized the importance of digitalization, modernization of the technical base and training of professional personnel, especially pointing out the need to exchange experience with foreign countries. The head of state clearly outlined the priority: every step should bring us closer to the goals of the Socioeconomic Development Program for 2022–2028.

Foreign policy initiatives: from Samarkand to Paris

A significant part of the meeting was the report of Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov on the results of foreign policy activities. The center of attention was the official visit of National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to France.

During the meeting with President Emmanuel Macron, the international agenda, climate, water resources, and sustainable development were discussed. The head of the Khalk Maslakhaty proposed creating a new dialogue format - "Central Asia - France", put forward initiatives to develop scientific, humanitarian and investment cooperation. A significant step was the Turkmen-French Economic Forum with the participation of 40 leading French companies.

In addition to the visit to France, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported on Turkmenistan's international activities: working visits to Japan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Monaco, meetings with foreign delegations, signing of 54 international documents. The President noted the importance of diplomacy as a tool for stability and development, instructing to intensify external relations and interaction with international organizations.

During the meeting, Serdar Berdimuhamedov clearly outlined strategic priorities: ensuring sustainable growth, modernizing key industries, intensifying foreign policy contacts. The focus is on the effectiveness of the implementation of state programs, the effectiveness of international partnerships and a systematic approach to digitalization.

Symbol of Memory: On the 80th Anniversary of Victory

Concluding the meeting, Serdar Berdimuhamedov recalled a significant event - the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. A flower-laying ceremony in honor of our heroes will be held at the Khalk Hakydasy (People's Memory) memorial complex in Ashgabat on May 9, the head of state said and congratulated the members of the Cabinet of Ministers and the Turkmen people on Victory Day.
