Amazon has launched the Vulcan robot in its warehouses in the United States and Germany
08.05.2025 | 19:40 |Amazon has introduced the Vulcan robot, equipped with tactile sensors, capable of handling up to 80% of the goods in its warehouses. This new system is currently being tested in Germany and the United States. It combines machine learning with a unique manipulator that rivals human dexterity. The decision to launch the Vulcan robot will accelerate order processing to up to 300 units per hour and reduce the physical strain on employees, while simultaneously creating new specializations in robotics.
A key feature of Vulcan is its ability to “feel” objects: force sensors on the manipulator regulate its grip, preventing damage to fragile items. The design of the robot's arm allows it to carefully move goods even in densely packed containers.
Amazon emphasizes that Vulcan is part of a 75% automation strategy, where robots and humans complement each other. For example, the robot undertakes tasks such as lifting heavy items or retrieving goods from high shelves, while employees address non-standard issues. According to the company, the implementation of Vulcan has already created new job openings in robotics maintenance and personnel training.
