Investment potential of Turkmenistan in focus of international forum in Malaysia
24.04.2025 | 02:35 |On April 23, the International Forum on attracting investments in the economy of Turkmenistan opened in the capital of Malaysia – Kuala Lumpur. This event became an important milestone in the strategy of economic diplomacy of the country, aimed at expanding international partnership and strengthening its position in the global investment market.
The forum brought together a wide range of participants – from members of the Turkmen government to representatives of more than 40 countries, international organizations, large companies, financial institutions and industry experts.
The plenary session, round tables and thematic sessions became a platform for a comprehensive discussion of opportunities for interaction, building business ties and presenting the investment potential of Turkmenistan.
The central theme of the forum was increasing the country's investment attractiveness. In his welcoming address, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of attracting capital to key sectors: fuel and energy, construction, transport, digital technologies, industry, agriculture, textile and food industries.
Particular attention was paid to environmental sustainability issues - in particular, reducing methane and CO₂ emissions, as well as developing "green" energy.
Experts presented reports to forum participants on projects being implemented in Turkmenistan in the energy, telecommunications, construction and banking sectors. Initiatives to digitalize the economy and expand export potential aroused great interest.
The results of the first day of the forum have already been assessed by experts as productive: the platform has become a catalyst for launching new partnerships and joint initiatives. The forum will end on April 24, and the following day, bilateral meetings of Turkmen officials with current and potential investors will be held.
This event not only enhances the investment attractiveness of Turkmenistan, but also emphasizes the country's desire for open dialogue and sustainable development.
