President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the new Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

On April 17, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Turkmenistan Amer bin Ali Al-Shehri, who presented his credentials to the head of state.

The Ambassador conveyed warm greetings on behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and the Crown Prince, Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to the head of state, as well as to the head of the Khalk Maslakhaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

Congratulating the diplomat on his appointment, the President of Turkmenistan wished the Ambassador great success in consistently strengthening bilateral relations. The head of state also addressed his best wishes to the leadership of Saudi Arabia, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reports.

It was emphasized that Turkmenistan attaches particular importance to building up traditional ties of friendship, brotherhood and close partnership: the Turkmen-Saudi dialogue serves as a model of cooperation based on trust, mutual respect and equality.

Both countries successfully interact not only in a bilateral format, but also within the framework of authoritative international structures, primarily the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. Serdar Berdimuhamedov thanked the Saudi side for its active support of Turkmenistan's initiatives and proposals on the world stage.

During the exchange of views on the state and prospects of interstate partnership in the trade and economic sphere, the annually increasing trade turnover between the countries was noted, as well as the availability of opportunities for further intensification of interaction.

Among the promising vectors of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Saudi Arabia were named the fuel and energy, trade, investment, transport and communications sectors, the chemical industry, textile and agricultural industries.

At the same time, great opportunities for joint work in the fields of science, culture and art were noted.

Emphasizing the need to study the rich historical and cultural heritage of the two peoples within the framework of humanitarian partnership, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov confirmed Turkmenistan's commitment to the traditionally mutually beneficial dialogue with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The diplomat assured that he would make every effort to strengthen the traditionally friendly interstate relations.

On the same day, Ambassador Amer bin Ali Al-Shehri met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov.
