From 2025 onwards, an even greater number of Turkmen students will have the opportunity to study in Turkiye free of charge
08.04.2025 | 16:05 |Turkey intends to expand its educational cooperation with Turkmenistan by increasing the number of scholarships for Turkmen students to 100 this year. This was announced by the President of the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB), Abdullah Eren, during a meeting with the Minister of Education of Turkmenistan, Jumamyrat Gurbangeldiyev, which took place as part of an official visit to Ashgabat.
Abdullah Eren emphasized the significance of Turkmenistan for the Turkish people, noting the strong historical and cultural ties between the two countries.
Particular attention during the visit is being paid to matters of educational interaction. Since 1992, over 3,000 citizens of Turkmenistan have received state scholarships from Turkiye. Currently, approximately 30,000 students from Turkmenistan are studying in Turkish universities.
"In the 2024–2025 academic year, 524 applications were received from Turkmenistan to participate in the program. We plan to provide scholarships to at least one hundred students this year" stated Abdullah Eren.
He also emphasized that Turkiye considers Turkmenistan an integral part of the Turkic world, alongside Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan. "We have great affection for the Turkmen people. We share a common historical past" added Eren.
During the visit of the YTB President, meetings with representatives of other state and educational institutions are also planned, including a visit to the historical city of Merv.
