Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan aim to increase bilateral trade to $1 billion annually – Ambassador

Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan are planning to significantly increase the volume of mutual trade. This was stated by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Turkmenistan, Nurlan Nogayev, in an interview with a correspondent of "Orient" on the sidelines of the "Investments in the Future of Turkmenistan" forum.

"According to the Statistics Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in 2024, the trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $554 million. At last year's meeting between the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, it was noted that this indicator demonstrates steady growth. However, according to both parties, there is every opportunity to increase trade volumes. To this end, the Kazakh delegation is actively participating in the forum" said the Ambassador of Kazakhstan.

The Ambassador emphasized that the forum discussed key areas of economic cooperation, as well as the prospects for implementing major infrastructure and energy projects. He noted that in his speech, the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Nokerguly Atagulyev, announced impressive indicators of the country's economic growth, including a 6.3% increase in GDP in 2024. These results, according to the diplomat, demonstrate the effectiveness of the measures taken by the Turkmen government.

At the exhibition, Kazakh businessmen familiarized themselves with the products of Turkmen manufacturers. According to the Ambassador, representatives of the delegation highly appreciated the quality and competitiveness of the presented goods and have already begun to conclude contracts for their supply to Kazakhstan.
