TANAP gas exports increase by over 12%
14.03.2025 | 16:06 |Gas exports via the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) have increased by more than 12% this year.
According to data from the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan, in the first two months of 2025, the volume of gas exported through TANAP amounted to 0.9 billion cubic meters. This increase occurred against the backdrop of an overall decline in natural gas production in the country by 1.22%.
In January-February of the current year, natural gas production in Azerbaijan totaled 8.1 billion cubic meters.
Of this volume, 2.2 billion cubic meters came from the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli field, 4.3 billion cubic meters from the Shah Deniz field, 0.3 billion cubic meters from the Absheron field, and 1.3 billion cubic meters from the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR).
TANAP, with a length of 1850 km, designed to transport Azerbaijani gas from the Shah Deniz field to Europe, was inaugurated in June 2018. Its throughput capacity is approximately 16 billion cubic meters of gas.
The gas pipeline plays a key role in diversifying energy supplies to Europe, reducing dependence on traditional routes.
