Apple introduces the budget-friendly iPhone 16e
20.02.2025 | 11:05 |On February 19, 2025, Apple introduced the new iPhone 16e, a more affordable alternative to the standard iPhone 16 model. Priced at $599, this smartphone succeeds the iPhone SE, which was released in 2022 at a price of $430.
The iPhone 16e, which shares a similar design with the iPhone 14, is powered by the new A18 chip – delivering an 80% performance boost compared to the A13 Bionic chip found in the iPhone 11.
One of the key and unique hardware features of the iPhone 16e is the C1 modem. This marks the first cellular modem designed by Apple itself and is the most energy-efficient modem ever included in an iPhone. It ensures fast and reliable 5G connectivity.
The device also boasts a 6.1-inch OLED display and enhanced camera capabilities, including a 48-megapixel sensor. The company promises high-quality photography thanks to its proprietary algorithms; 2x lossless zoom is available; and video recording is supported at up to 4K resolution at 60 frames per second.
Battery life has been significantly improved, allowing users to enjoy up to 26 hours of video playback.
The iPhone 16e inherits all the AI functions of its higher-end counterparts. For example, the Clean Up tool allows users to remove unwanted objects from photos, and natural language search in the Photos app simplifies finding images. Image Playground, Genmoji, and Writing Tools assist in creating and editing images, emojis, and text, respectively.
The iPhone 16e features a USB-C connector, while the iPhone SE previously offered Lightning. Pre-orders for the iPhone 16e will begin on February 21st, and it will be available in stores on February 28th, 2025.
