 Conductor Claudio Vandelli to participate in Turkmen-Italian concert in Ashgabat

On February 27th, the "Festival of Music" concert will take place at the Magtymguly National Music and Drama Theater, dedicated to the friendly relations between Turkmenistan and Italy. Works by Turkmen and Italian composers will be performed by the State Symphony Orchestra of Turkmenistan under the direction of its principal conductor, Rasul Klychev, and Italian composer and conductor Claudio Vandelli. The concert is organized by the Italian Embassy in Turkmenistan with the support of the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan to demonstrate the strong ties and mutual respect between the peoples of the two countries.

Claudio Vandelli is an Italian conductor born in Milan in 1967. He began his musical education at the Milan Conservatory, where he studied clarinet and conducting. In the 1990s, Vandelli co-founded and conducted the “I Virtuosi Italiani” chamber orchestra, with which he performed at prestigious festivals and concert halls around the world. He has also collaborated with such outstanding soloists as Mstislav Rostropovich, Yuri Bashmet, and Gidon Kremer.

Vandelli actively works in opera houses, conducting productions at La Scala in Milan, Teatro Regio in Turin, and Teatro La Fenice in Venice. His repertoire covers a wide range of works from Baroque to contemporary music. In recent years, Vandelli has focused on teaching, conducting master classes and seminars for young conductors and musicians. He is also the artistic director of several music festivals in Italy and abroad. Claudio Vandelli is known for his deep understanding of music and his ability to convey its emotional essence to the audience. His interpretations are distinguished by their subtlety and attention to detail, making him one of the most respected conductors of his generation.

Classical music lovers in Turkmenistan have already had the opportunity to appreciate the art of the renowned Italian conductor in 2023 at a concert at the Magtymguly National Music and Drama Theater. Free tickets for the concert can be obtained at the theater box office.
