Oriented on making people closer

Within the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), it has been proposed to declare 2028 the Year of Social Development and Quality of Life.

This initiative was put forward by the Kyrgyz side and received support at an expert group meeting held on January 16, 2025, in Minsk.

The meeting was attended by representatives of CIS member states, including Belarus, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. Experts discussed proposals from the countries and agreed on draft documents that will be submitted for further consideration. The main goal of this initiative is to expand cooperation between the CIS states in the social sphere, improve the quality of life of citizens, and strengthen socio-demographic potential.

During 2028, it is planned to implement a series of measures aimed at sustainable social development, including improving documents in the socio-labor sphere, expanding social dialogue, and holding international forums. The final decision on proclaiming 2028 the Year of Social Development and Quality of Life will be made at a meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State.
